Jesus is Lord - Romans 10: 9
FAHAN PRAISE
Index
1 Before the Throne of God above,
2 Here is love vast as the ocean
3 How deep the Father’s love for us.
4 How lovely is Your dwelling place
5 In Christ alone
6 King of Kings, majesty
7 Such Love,
9 I am not skilled to understand
10 Go forth and tell
12 Jesus, all for Jesus;
13 My heart is filled with thankfulness
14 Saviour, Thy dying love
15 Draw me close to the Cross
16 Come And See
17 My Jesus, my Saviour
18 I will offer up my life.
19 O Breath of Life
20 I do not know
21 Blessed assurance Jesus is mine
22 Be bold, be strong
23 Did you ever talk to God above?
24 My God is so big
25 I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy
26 God’s love is deeper than the deepest ocean
27 I’m special
28 O happy day!
29 I’ll go in the strength of the Lord
30 Jesus is the name we honour
31 God is a holy God
32 My Jesus, I love Thee
33 I will sing the wondrous story
1 Before the Throne of God above,
I have a strong, a perfect plea,
a great High Priest whose name is Love,
who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
my name is written on His heart;
I know that while in heaven He stands
no tongue can bid me thence depart,
no tongue can bid me thence depart.
2 When Satan tempts me to despair,
and tells me of the guilt within,
upward I look and see Him there
who made an end to all my sin.
Because the sinless Saviour died,
my sinful soul is counted free;
for God the Just is satisfied
to look on Him and pardon me,
to look on Him and pardon me.
3 Behold Him there! The risen Lamb,
my perfect, spotless righteousness;
the great unchangeable I AM,
the King of glory and of grace!
One with Himself I cannot die,
my soul is purchased with His blood;
my life is hid with Christ on high,
with Christ, my Saviour and my God,
with Christ my Saviour and my God.
1 Here is love vast as the ocean,
loving kindness as the flood,
when the Prince of life, our ransom,
shed for us his precious blood.
Who His love will not remember;
who can cease to sing His praise?
He can never be forgotten
throughout heaven’s eternal days.
2 On the mount of crucifixion
fountains opened deep and wide;
through the floodgates of God’s mercy
flowed a vast and gracious tide.
Grace and love, like mighty rivers
poured incessant from above;
and heaven’s peace and perfect justice
kissed a guilty world in love.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook no. 402
1 How deep the Father’s love for us.
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.
How great the pain of searing loss –
The Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the
Bring many sons to glory.
2 Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders;
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished;
His dying breath has brought me life –
I know that it is finished.
3 I will not boast in anything,
No gifts, no power, no wisdom;
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His death and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer;
But this I know with all my heart –
His wounds have paid my ransom.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook no. 407
1 How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts to me.
My soul is longing and fainting
the courts of the Lord to see;
my heart and flesh, they are singing
for joy to the living God:
how lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts to me!
2 Even the sparrow finds a home where he can settle down;
and the swallow, she can build a nest
where she may lay her young
within the courts of the Lord of hosts,
my King, my Lord, and my God:
and happy are those who are dwelling where
the song of praise is sung!
3 And I’d rather be a door-keeper and only stay a day,
than live the life of a sinner
and have to stay away;
for the Lord is shining as the sun,
and the Lord, He’s like a shield –
and no good thing does He withhold
from those who walk His way.
4 How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts to me.
My soul is longing and fainting
the courts of the Lord to see;
my heart and flesh, they are singing
for joy to the living God:
how lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts to me!
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook no. 171
1 In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
2 In Christ alone! - who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied –
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.
3 There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine –
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
4 No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand!
(Irish Pres. Hymnbook 408)
1 King of Kings, majesty,
God of heaven living in me,
gentle Saviour, closest friend,
strong Deliverer, Beginning and End,
all within me falls at Your throne.
Your majesty, I can but bow.
I lay my all before You now.
In royal robes I don’t deserve
I live to serve Your majesty.
2 Earth and heaven worship You,
Love eternal, faithful and true,
who bought the nations, ransomed souls,
brought this sinner near to Your throne;
all within me cries out in praise.
Your majesty, I can but bow.
I lay my all before You now.
In royal robes I don’t deserve
I live to serve Your majesty.
I live to serve Your majesty.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook no. 452
1 Such Love, pure as the whitest snow;
Such love, weeps for the shame I know;
Such love, paying the debt I owe;
O Jesus, such love.
2 Such love, stilling my restlessness;
Such love, filling my emptiness;
Such love, showing me holiness;
O Jesus, such love.
3 Such love, springs from eternity;
Such love, streaming through history;
Such love, fountain of life to me;
O Jesus, such love.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook no. 191
1 The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want.
He makes me lie in pastures green.
He leads me by the still, still waters,
His goodness restores my soul.
And I will trust in You alone,
and I will trust in You alone,
for Your endless mercy follows me,
Your goodness will lead me home.
2 He guides my ways in righteousness,
And He anoints my head with oil,
And my cup, it overflows with joy,
I feast on His pure delights.
3 And though I walk the darkest path,
I will not fear the evil one,
For You are with me, and Your rod and staff
Are the comfort I need to know.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook no. 527
1 I am not skilled to understand
what God has willed, what God has planned;
I only know at His right hand
stands one who is my Saviour.
2 I take Him at His word indeed:
‘Christ died for sinners,’ this I read;
and in my heart I find a need
of Him to be my Saviour.
3 That He should leave His place on high
and come for sinful man to die,
you count it strange? So once did I,
before I knew my Saviour.
4 And O that He fulfilled may see
the glory of His life in me,
and with His work contented be,
as I with my dear Saviour.
5 Yea, living, dying, let me bring
my life, to Him an offering,
that He who lives to be my King
once died to be my Saviour.
1 Go forth and tell! O Church of God, awake!
God’s saving news to all the nations take:
proclaim Christ Jesus, Saviour, Lord and King,
that all the world His worthy praise may sing.
2 Go forth and tell! God’s love embraces all;
He will in Grace respond to all who call:
how shall they call if they have never heard
the gracious invitation of his word?
3 Go forth and tell! Where still the darkness lies;
in wealth or want, the sinner surely dies:
give us, O Lord, concern of heart and mind,
a love like Yours which cares for all humankind.
4 Go forth and tell! the doors are open wide:
share God’s good gifts – let no-one be denied;
live out your life as Christ your Lord shall choose,
your ransomed powers for his sole glory use.
5 Go forth and tell! O Church of God, arise!
Go in the strength which Christ your Lord supplies;
go till all nations His great name adore
and serve Him, Lord and King for evermore.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook no. 634
1 I have a Shepherd, One I love so well,
How He has blessed me, tongue can never tell;
On the cross He suffered, shed His blood and died,
That I might ever in His love confide
Following Jesus, ever day by day,
Nothing can harm me when He leads the way;
Darkness or sunshine, what're befall,
Jesus, the Shepherd, is my All in All.
2 Pastures abundant doth His hand provide,
Still waters flowing ever at my side,
Goodness and mercy follow on my track;
With such a Shepherd nothing can I lack.
3 When I would wander from the path astray,
Then He will draw me back into the way;
In the darkest valley I need fear no ill,
For He, my Shepherd, will be with me still.
4 When labour’s ended and the journey done,
Then He will lead me safely to my home;
There I shall dwell in rapture sure and sweet,
With all the loved ones gathered round His feet.
Based on Psalm 23.
Words Leonard Weaver,
1 Jesus, all for Jesus;
All I am and have and ever hope to be.
Jesus, all for Jesus;
All I am and have and ever hope to be.
2 All of my ambitions, hopes and plans,
I surrender these into Your hands.
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans,
I surrender these into Your hands.
For it’s only in Your will that I am free.
For it’s only in Your will that I am free.
Jesus, all for Jesus;
All I am and have and ever hope to be.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook no. 543
1 My heart is filled with thankfulness
to Him who bore my pain;
who plumbed the depths of my disgrace
and gave me life again;
who crushed my curse of sinfulness
and clothed me in His light,
and wrote His law of righteousness
with power upon my heart.
2 My heart is filled with thankfulness
to Him who walks beside;
who floods my weaknesses and strengths
and causes fear to fly;
whose every promise is enough
for every step I take,
sustaining me with arms of love
and crowning me with grace.
3 My heart is filled with thankfulness
to Him who reigns above;
whose wisdom is my perfect peace;
whose every thought is love.
For every day I have on earth
is given by the King,
so I will give my life, my all
to love and follow Him.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook no. 514
1 Saviour, Thy dying love Thou gavest me,
nor should I aught withhold,
my Lord, from Thee;
in love my soul would bow,
my heart fulfil its vow,
some offering bring Thee now,
something for Thee.
2 At the blest mercy-seat pleading for me,
my feeble faith looks up, Jesus, to Thee:
help me the cross to bear,
Thy wondrous love declare,
some song to raise, or prayer-
something for Thee.
3 Give me a faithful heart, likeness to Thee,
that each departing day henceforth may see
some work of love begun,
some deed of kindness done,
some wanderer sought and won -
something for Thee.
4 All that I am and have, Thy gifts so free,
in joy, in grief, through life, O Lord, for Thee.
And when Thy face I see,
my ransomed soul shall be,
through all eternity,
something for Thee.
1 Draw me close to the Cross,
To the place of Your love,
To the place where You poured out Your mercy;
Where the river of life
That flows from Your wounded side
Brings refreshing to those who draw near.
Draw me close to Your throne
Where Your majesty is shown,
Where the crown of my life I lay down.
Draw me close to Your side,
Where my heart is satisfied,
Draw me close to You, Lord,
Draw me close.
1 Come and see, come and see
Come and see the King of love
See the purple robe and crown of thorns He wears
Soldiers mock, rulers sneer,
As He lifts the cruel cross
Lone and friendless now He climbs towards the hill
We worship at Your feet
Where wrath and mercy meet
And a guilty world is washed
By love’s pure stream
For us He was made sin
Oh, help me take it in
Deep wounds of love cry out
‘Father, forgive’ I worship, I worship
The Lamb who was slain
2 Come and weep, come and mourn
For your sin that pierced Him there
So much deeper than the wounds of thorn and nail
All our pride, all our greed
All our fallenness and shame
And the Lord has laid the punishment on Him
3 Man of heaven, born to earth
To restore us to Your heaven
Here we bow in awe beneath Your searching eyes
From Your tears comes our joy
From Your death our life shall spring
By Your resurrection power we shall rise
1 My Jesus, my saviour,
Lord, there is none like You.
All of my days I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love.
My comfort, my shelter,
Tower of refuge and strength,
Let every breath, all that I am,
Never cease to worship you.
Shout to the Lord all the earth, let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King.
Mountains bow down
And the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands.
Forever I’ll love You, forever I’ll stand.
Nothing compares to the
Promise I have in You.
1 I will offer up my life in spirit and truth,
pouring out the oil of love as my worship to you.
In surrender I must give my every part;
Lord receive the sacrifice of a broken heart.
2 Jesus what can I give, what can I bring
to so faithful a friend, to so loving a king?
Saviour, what can be said, what can be sung
as a praise of your name for the things you have done?
Oh, my words could not tell, not even in part,
of the debt of love that is owed by this thankful heart.
3 You deserve my every breath
For You’ve paid the great cost;
Giving up Your life to death,
even death on a cross.
You took all my shame away, there defeated my sin,
Opened up the gates of heaven,
And have beckoned me in.
4 Jesus, what can I give, what can I bring
To so faithful a friend, to so loving a king?
Saviour, what can be said, what can be sung,
As a praise of Your name
For the things You have done?
Oh, my words could not tell, not even in part,
Of the debt of love that is owed
by this thankful heart.

1 O Breath of Life,
come sweeping through us,
revive Your Church with life and power;
O breath of Life, come, cleanse, renew us
and fit Your Church to meet this
hour.
2 O Wind of God, come bend us,
break us
till humbly we confess our need;
then, in Your tenderness remake us,
revive, restore – for this we plead.
3 O Breath of Love,
come breathe within us,
renewing thought and will and heart;
come, Love of Christ, afresh to win us,
revive Your Church in every part!
4 Revive us, Lord; is zeal abating
while harvest fields are vast and white?
Revive us, Lord, the world is waiting –
equip Your Church to spread the light.
New Presbyterian Hymn Book 475
1 I do not know what lies ahead,
the way I cannot see;
yet One stands near to be my guide,
He’ll show the way to me:
I know who holds the future,
and He’ll guide me with His hand;
with God things don’t just happen,
everything by Him is planned.
So as I face tomorrow,
with its problems large and small,
I’ll trust the God of miracles,
give to Him my all.
2 I do not know how many days
of life are mine to spend;
but One who knows and cares for me
will keep me to the end:
I know who holds the future…
3 I do not know the course ahead,
what joys and grief’s are there;
but One in near who fully knows,
I’ll trust His loving care:
I know who holds the future…
1 Blessed assurance Jesus is mine:
O what a foretaste of glory divine,
Heirs of Salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit washed in His blood
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long;
This is my story this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long.
2 Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture burst on my sight;
angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love
This is my story, this is my song…
3 Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Saviour am happy and blessed;
Watching and waiting, looking above
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love
This is my story, this is my song…
By Frances van Alstyne,
1 Be bold, be strong
For the Lord your God is with you
Be bold, be strong
For the Lord your God is with you
2 I am not afraid (No! No! No!)
I am not dismayed (Not me!)
For I’m walking in faith and victory
Come on and walk in faith and victory
For the Lord your God is with you
1 Did you ever talk to God above?
Tell him that you need a friend to love
Pray in Jesus name believing that God
answers prayer.
2 Have you told him all your cares and woes?
Every tiny little fear He knows.
You can know He’ll always hear
and He will answer prayer.
3 You can whisper in a crowd to Him
You can cry when you’re alone to Him
You don’t have to pray out loud to Him
He knows your thoughts.
4 On a lofty mountain peak He’s there
In a meadow by a stream He’s there
Anywhere on earth you go
He’s been there from the start.
5 Find the answer in His word its true
You’ll be strong because He walks with you
By His faithfulness He’ll change you too
God answers prayer.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook No 248
1 My God is so big, so strong and so mighty,
There's nothing that He cannot do.
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty,
There's nothing that He cannot do.
The rivers are His, the mountains are His,
The stars are His handiwork too.
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty,
There's nothing that He cannot do.
2 My God is so big, so strong and so mighty,
There's nothing that He cannot do.
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty,
There's nothing that He cannot do.
He's called you to live for Him every day,
In all that you say and you do.
My God is so big, so strong and so mighty,
He can do all things through you.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook No 29
1 I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy
down in my heart; (where?)
down in my heart, (where?)
down in my heart.
I’ve got that joy, joy, joy, joy
down in my heart, (where?)
down in my heart to stay.
And I’m so happy,
so very happy,
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart,
and I’m so happy,
so very happy,
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart.
2 I’ve got the peace that passes understanding
down in my heart, (where?)
down in my heart, (where?)
down in my heart.
I’ve got the peace that passes understanding
down in my heart, (where?)
down in my heart to stay.
And I’m so happy,
so very happy,
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart,
and I’m so happy,
so very happy,
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart.

Deeper, wider, higher is God’s love to me.

Deeper, wider higher,
deeper, wider, higher,
deeper, wider, higher is God to me.
Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook No 117
1 I’m special because God has loved me,
For He gave the best thing that He had to save me;
His own Son Jesus, crucified to take the blame
For all the bad things I have done.
Thank You Jesus, thank You Lord,
For loving me so much.
I know I don’t deserve anything.
Help me feel Your love right now,
To know deep in my heart
That I’m Your special friend.
1 O happy day! . that fixed my choice on Thee, my Saviour and my God!
Well may this glowing heart rejoice,
and tell its raptures all abroad.
O happy day! O happy day! When Jesus washed my sins away;
He taught me how to watch and pray,
and live rejoicing every day; hallelujah! happy day!
O happy day! When Jesus washed my sins away.
2 ‘Tis done, the great transaction’s done!
I am my Lords and he is mine!
He drew me, and I followed on,
charmed to confess the voice divine.
O happy day…
3 Now rest, my long divided heart,
fixed on this blissful centre, rest;
nor ever from the Lord depart,
with Him of every good possessed.
O happy day…
4 High heaven, that heard the solemn vow,
that vow renewed shall daily hear;
till in life’s latest hour I bow
and bless in death a bond so dear.
O happy day…
1 I’ll go in the strength of the Lord,
in paths He has marked for my feet;
I’ll follow the light of His word,
nor shrink from the dangers I meet.
His presence my steps shall attend,
His fullness my wants shall supply;
on Him, ‘til my journey shall end,
my unwavering faith will rely.
I’ll go, I’ll go in the strength, I’ll go in the strength of the Lord.
I’ll go, I’ll go in the strength, I’ll go in the strength of the Lord.
2 I’ll go in the strength of the Lord,
to work He appoints me to do;
in joy which His smile doth afford
my soul shall its vigour renew.
His wisdom shall guard me from harm,
His power my sufficiency prove;
I’ll trust His omnipotent arm,
and prove His unchangeable love.
I’ll go, I’ll go in the strength…
3 I’ll go in the strength of the Lord,
to conflicts which faith will require;
His grace as my shield and reward,
my courage and zeal shall inspire.
Since He gives the word of command
to meet and encounter the foe,
with His sword of truth in my hand
to suffer and triumph I’ll go.
I’ll go, I’ll go in the strength…
1 Jesus is the name we honour;
Jesus is the name we praise.
Majestic Name above all other names,
The highest heaven and earth proclaim
That Jesus is our God.
We will glorify,
We will lift Him high,
We will give Him honour and praise.
We will glorify,
We will lift Him high,
We will give Him honour and praise.
2 Jesus is the name we worship;
Jesus is the name we trust.
He is the King above all other kings,
Let all creation stand and sing
That Jesus is our God.
We will glorify…
3 Jesus is the Father’s splendour;
Jesus is the Father’s joy.
He will return to reign in majesty,
And every eye at last shall see
That Jesus is our God.
We will glorify…
God is a holy God
(God is a holy God)
We can’t be friends because of our sin
(We can’t be friends because of our sin)
God is a holy God
(God is a holy God)
We can’t be friends because of our sin
(We can’t be friends because of our sin)
Jesus died to wash us clean
When we put our trust in Him.
God opens His arms and welcomes us in
(God opens His arms and welcomes us in)
God opens His arms and welcomes us in
(God opens His arms and welcomes us in)
Words and Music: Paul Shelly
1 My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine,
for Thee all the pleasures of sin I resign;
my gracious Redeemer, my Saviour art Thou,
if ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now.
2 I love Thee because Thou hast first loved me,
and purchased my pardon on
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow,
if ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now.
3 I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death,
and praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
and say, when the death-dew lies cold on my brow:
if ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now.
4 In mansions of glory and endless delight,
I’ll ever adore Thee and dwell in Thy sight;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow:
if ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ‘tis now.
1 I will sing the wondrous story
Of the Christ who died for me;
How He left the realms of glory
For the Cross on
Yes, I’ll sing the wondrous story
Of the Christ Who died for me.
Sing it with His saints in glory
Gathered by the crystal sea.
2 I was lost, but Jesus found me,
Found the sheep that went astray.
Raised me up and gently led me
Back into the narrow way.
Days of darkness still may meet me;
Sorrow’s paths I oft may tread;
But His presence still is with me –
By His guiding Hand I’m led.
3 He will keep me till the river
Rolls its waters at my feet;
Then He’ll bear me safely over
Made by grace for glory meet.
Yes, I’ll sing the wondrous story
Of the Christ who died for me.
Sing it with His saints in glory
Gathered by the crystal sea.
