Since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 2005, persecution has decreased. However, the church in the North remains threatened by the influence of Islam. The peace agreement is still very fragile, given a clear mistrust between both parties to the agreement. The Islamic government in Khartoum is working hard to restrict Christian-related activities in conflict-stricken Darfur. In January 2011 the south will vote in a referendum to decide whether to secede from the north.

• That the CPA will be successfully put into practise and that all parties will accept the outcomes of the referendum in the south
• The majority of church leaders have little formal training. Pray that they will be equipped to stand firm under pressure
• For those working to bring the gospel to the people of Darfur.
