First Minister
THE FIRST MINISTER
Ninian Cochrane MA was born near Glendermott and educated in Glasgow 1707. He joined the Derry Presbytery in 1719 who reported to the General Synod - that they had ordained Mr. Ninian Cochrane at Fawn on 3rd February 1719. It is unclear when the meeting house was erected but what was normal for that time was that the church building was erected a few miles from the village of Fahan. This may have been where most of the Presbyterians were populated but what is more likely it is the place that the landowner allowed them to worship. Ninian Cochrane retired in 1748 and died on 21st September 1751.
